It started with a trip to Fayetteville.
The drive to Fayetteville seems to get longer each year, but that night it was a lot of fun. We had been hearing about the new breweries, but had not visited them all. That night, with no planning or forethought, we did the tour of the breweries. Luckily for us, we had a designated driver.
Each of our local breweries is a little different, but each is fun. Flights of beer from each brewery provide a range of tastes, colors and even textures. The brewers and their bartenders are interesting, friendly and fun.
We knew we wanted to be a part of the craft beer experience. Some of our group have a lot of experience with beer and some of us have less. But brewing our own beer to sell was a little intimidating for the group. Drinking it was more our style.
Where could we find a comfortable spot that was close to home and featured the full range of local craft beers? And fine wines? What was the most important in a place we planned to spend a lot of time.
Over weeks of discussion, over many growlers, pints and flights, a plan started to form.
We knew we wanted to be in downtown Rogers. Not only is Rogers home, it's also a progressive town that has never forsaken its roots. It's a place where families live and work and enjoy life without going very far from home. Not all of us are native to Rogers, but all of us now call it home.
We knew we wanted to be convenient for the people on the way to Beaver Lake or the Arkansas Public Theater or any of fantastic restaurants around the downtown area. We looked and planned and looked some more. Just when we were about to give up, the right building became available.
More discussion over growlers, pints, and flights. What would our place look like? What would we serve?
Then we got to work and created a place we want to share with all our friends, including the ones we don't know yet.
Welcome to Brick Street Brews. Have a beer and tell your friends. We are proudly bringing local craft beer to downtown Rogers.

About the Owners
Rick & Naomi McLeod are the owners of a Farmers Insurance agency just a few blocks away from Brick Street Brews. They have 5 adult kids and 5 grandkids spread all over the country, and they enjoy visiting them in their toy-hauler travel trailer that keeps the Harley-Davidson secure. Rick and Naomi are heavily involved in the community, as members of the Rogers Downtown Rotary and recovering volunteers from multiple organizations and events. Wilbur and Dori, their two dogs, enjoy spending time at the insurance office. Both military veterans, Rick and Naomi both come from large, close-knit families and are northwest Arkansas natives.
Jim & Dana Mather spend their days helping others. Dr. Mather is the executive director of Sources for Independent Community Living, a nonprofit serving folks with disabilities that has offices in Fayetteville and Rogers. Dana is helping small businesses communicate creatively through Mather Consulting LLC. Ella, their Golden Retriever-Great Pyrenees, takes her responsibility to herd everyone in the bar very seriously. Originally from Iowa, the Mathers enjoy traveling to Sonoma, watching Notre Dame football and seeing Pearl Jam in concert. Dana is a member of the Rogers Downtown Rotary (which conveniently meets at Brick Street Brews) and has served on the boards of the NWA Emerging Leaders, the Rogers Public Education Foundation and the NWA Tourism Association. Jim is on the board of the Arkansas Rehabilitation Council, and volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
Lynn Atkins and Mike Rooney are in communication - Lynn as a reporter for the Bella Vista "Weekly Vista" and the Benton County Daily Record, and Mike as the owner of Creative On Hold Marketing. Their three adult children and four dogs wander between their home on Beaver Lake and their pontoon boat when they aren't at Brick Street Brews. A Rhode Island-native, Lynn has volunteered for many years with Relay for Life of Benton County, Rebuilding Together of Benton County, and Frisco Festival, while Mike (raised in California) is a member of the Rogers Optimist Club and serves on the board of directors of Nothing in Return.
